Atlanta Trip Congratulations!
Congratulations to all of our 7th and 8th grade Band/Orchestra students for a successful trip at the Music in the Parks Festival in Atlanta, GA on April 21st! SMS Bands were 2nd in their division and SMS Orchestras were first in theirs, winning the over-all award for their catagory as well! A special thanks to our chaperones who made the trip possible and to all administration, teachers, and parents for their support!

Mr. Kevin Martel Named as SMS Choir Director and Secondary General Music Instructor
Mr. Kevin Martel has been named the Choral Director and Secondary General Music instructor for Socastee Middle School. A graduate of the Hartt School of Music, Mr. Martel has been in music education for 30 years, having most recently been at Ocean Bay Middle and St. James Elementary School. He is excited to be moving to Socastee Middle and looking forward to making music, and creating memories, as an SMS Warrior!

Join the SMS Performing Arts
Rising 6th graders and families from Lakewood Elementary are invited to join the SMS Performing Arts and begin exploring their talents through band, choir, or orchestra. Students must sign up via the link in order to be placed in the appropriate ensemble prior to the beginning of the school year. Those wishing to sign-up for general music will be placed in general exploratories at the start of the school year and may request a schedule change for general music.

Mr. Raymond Dobell Named as SMS Band & Orchestra Director
Mr. Raymond Dobell has been named the Band Director and Orchestra Director for Socastee Middle School. A graduate of Ball State University, Mr. Dobell will be in his 7th year of teaching, having most recently taught secondary general music at Forestbrook Middle School as well as directing the school musical and talent show.
